This is a “Best of Percussion Vol.1”. Beside the essentials of the solo-instruments bongos (1 Set), chimes (only glissando), shaker (2x), spring drum (thunder) and tambourine, this set contains a nice collection of toms, cymbals and some wooden instruments. We recorded the Hi-Tom played with sticks and hands and the Low-Tom played with sticks and brushes in 5 velocity layers and 2 Round Robin variations. We recorded the ride cymbal played with sticks, brushes and timpani mallets as single notes and as a crescendo roll. Beyond that we added some more guiros, woodblocks and a triangle.

The sound of the Spring Drum is created by gently shaking the drum, so that the vibrations of the spring are transmitted to the head and produce a unique sound somewhere between a thunder and a dijeridoo. We’ve used two sizes of spring drum.

We recorded the typical thunder of the Spring Drum in loop, forward and reverse variations and we also recorded different spring noises.

This is a collection 5 of different shaker: 2 chicken eggs, 2 wood shaker (small + large) and one plastic shaker.

This is a 12“ (31cm) diameter ocean drum with double skined heads

and metal pebbles inside.

We recorded the Ocean Drum played with hands, fingers, thumb, brushes

and timpani mallets. We also recorded the typical sound of ocean waves

by tipping the drum slowly from one side to the other. The OCEAN DRUM

contains 1 patch.

We took a single „Fish“-GUIRO. We took samples rubbing, hits, loops, forward-backward (with release notes) or just single notes in 3 velocity layers and 3times Round Robin and also release samples. The mapping is from C3 to G#3. It is a tiny but very useful instrument.

This is solid Bar Chimes, with 26 aluminium chimes with silver alloy coating and red wood frame.

We recorded the bar chimes in two different ways, each having its own patch.

The first patch is Chimes 26:
We recorded every single one of the 26 bars and programmed and arranged the real vibrations and response of the bar chimes. You can control the most important parameters (Tone, Response, Delay, Reverb), though you’re free to build your own sound, whether you want solo bar chimes or a mellow glissando sound in the background.

The second instrument is Chimes 26 rct:
We recorded the real interaction of the bar chimes, meaning that every note you play contains the vibrations of two or three neighbouring bars. You can control the amount of stereo, reverb and delay..
Both instruments allow completely new playing possibilities for bar chimes in real time.

This is a normal pair of BONGOS, made of wood, the drum heads are of synthetic.

We played the bongos with hands and fingers and recorded two sets of samples. The first set is very detailed, containing samples of the rim and heads (muted and open) of the bongo played with hands and fingers. We recorded 4 velocity layers and 5 times Round Robin for each drum (the larger and smaller drum) and did the same with release samples.

The second set is called „light“ and contains samples just played with fingers in 5 velocity layers and 2 times Round Robin.
A special mapping makes it very easy to play the bongos in a natural and dynamic way, adding that extra touch of realism.
